Legal Question in Business Law in Minnesota
Amount of notice to cancel a contract
I have a customer in MN with whom we had a 2 year contract to transport 12 loads per week for an agreed to amount per load. 6 months into the contract they cancelled providing 2 weeks notice. How much notice are they required to provide? Service was never an issue, quality never an issue, project continued. Their customer decided to take over freight and our customer just agreed to it without consideration to the 2 year contract they had with us

Re: Amount of notice to cancel a contract
The contract controls cancellation. If the customer improperly canceled the contract, you may be able to recover damages for the breach of contract. I suggest that you have the contract reviewed by a Minnesota attorney to determine whether you have a claim, and whether it should be pursued.
