Legal Question in Social Security Law in Pennsylvania

Disability

My mother and father were married

for 22 years. Were divorced in 1996

and reunited in 1998. They've lived

together as a married couple since.

My father was making arrangements

for them to remarry when he

unexpectedly died. Now my mother

is without any of his disability

benefits. Is there any law that

would cover her in a situation like

this? They shared a bank account

and lived as a married couple. They

were originally married for 22 years

prior to the 2 year divorce. I also

lived with my parents (age 33 now)

for the last 8 years. My mother is 58

years old. My father was 60. He

passed away this New Years Eve.

Re: Disability

Since they were married over ten years she would still qualify as his wife. As for specific benefits she should contact Social Security. I don't think she qualifies yet.
